The Business Development Team are a hand-picked team who offer operational experience, research skills and the ability to innovate. They are skilled in assessing the opportunities available and offering workable and relevant solutions.

Over the past decade this team has grown considerably and it now offers a range of expertise and knowledge including, but not limited to: Contract Management Tendering; PFI/PPP bidding and project planning and delivery, Best Value and CPA; development of new partnership proposals to meet new requirements and retain council control, funding advice; Capital developments, (Design Build, Finance and Operate), sports development and consultancy on leisure issues arising for local government. Tim Hewett
Business Development Director

  • Directs and co-ordinates the efforts of the Business Development Team.
  • Represents the Company to Clients, National Bodies, Government Agencies, etc.
  • Providing strategic direction for both the Business Development Team and the Company.
  • Formulates innovative ideas for future business opportunities.
  • Tim has 26 years of industry experience in both the private and public sectors


John Bates
Head of Business Development

  • Actively seeks new business opportunities and provides contractual and financial support to the tendering process.
  • Liaises and co-ordinates with Regional Directors and Group Managers during the tendering process, during contract handover and after contract award and provides contract summary and business plans upon successful awards.
  • Represents the company on various Partnership Boards and Liaison Panels
  • Acts as the interface between the PFI SPV and the Local Authority at regular Performance Review Meetings.
  • Represents the company at leisure related meetings, seminars etc.
  • Undertakes post tender evaluations both operationally and financially.
  • John has been involved in the leisure industry for 25 years working in both the public and private sector.
     

Ian Morey
Business Development Manager

  • More than 20 years experience in public/private leisure management.
  • Leads the in-house team in the delivery of bids, overseeing both documentation and financial aspects
  • Resident expert on the golf market
  • Ian's expertise is valued in the industry as a key member of LMCA. He has also lectured for ILAM on Best Value and has written for Recreation, the ISRM Journal. Ian is currently the south east representative on the ISRM National Strategy Forum.
  • Member of DC Leisure's Sports Development Care Team.

Liz Burton
Project Co-Ordinator

  • Co-ordination and production of PFI/PPP tender submissions.
  • Acts as a communication hub for internal and external consortium members and clients.
  • Works closely with Development and PFI Director in compiling all PFI submissions.
  • Providing a supporting role for all the other tenders.
